Doctors need to be trained better on how to treat obese and overweight patients. The obese and overweight patients are treated less kindly than the normal sized patients. Doctors are not using empathy with obese and overweight patients making them less likely to want to visit the doctor’s office. Doctors often offer the normal weight patients upbeat advice without making comments about their weight. However, in the treatment of obese and overweight patients, doctors are likely to tell them that they need to lose weight even if the patient visited the office for a medical condition unrelated to weight gain.
